Independent Living…. Together

Stocks Hall Living in Mawdesley are absolutely delighted that Mr and Mrs Fish and their dog Zack, have chosen to come and live there in one of the stunning Independent Living Apartments.

The couple, originally from Bolton, married in their early twenties and moved to Euxton to live and work, where they owned a poultry farm together and did many long hours of hard work. They eventually settled in the Croston area, living there for 44 years and raising a family as well as funning their own small business known as ‘The Corn Mill’.

Earlier this year they made the decision to live at Stocks Hall, Mawdesley and on being asked what made them want to choose there, they said “Our family has all grown up and we were rattling around our big house like two spare parts. The house, especially the garden, became simply too big for us to manage. It was a family house and needed a family.”

When asked how they’ve found it since moving in, they answered “it’s very nice -a different way of living; you don’t have to worry about anything. We love the security, the fact that our family is close by and being able to visit anytime.  The homeliness is lovely and the fact that we could have our dog with us was a great comfort.  Initially, leaving the family house was hard, but you would expect that.  It feels like we are staying in a luxurious hotel.  The staff here made the transition much easier, and it is now starting to feel like home.   We think it is a wonderful idea for the 55+ age group.  If you don’t want to go into a bungalow on your own, this is the best place you can be”.
