Trip to the Blue Planet for Stocks Hall Mawdesley

As the BBC’s nature documentary series, Blue Planet, is currently airing on television, Stocks Hall Mawdesley thought it would be a wonderful adventure to go and see some of the animals and sea creates that are featured on the programme.

The Stocks Hall Mawdesley minibus whisked a group of ladies out for a day at the Blue Planet Aquarium, Ellesmere Port in Cheshire.

Blue Planet is a captivating underwater world aquarium, home to more than 100 living displays, as well as one of Europe’s largest collections of sharks.  The aquarium offers plenty of marine life to marvel at.   Elsie, Betty, Alma, Mary and Norma enjoyed looking round at all the different species of animals including carp, baby crocodiles, frogs, lizards and sting rays.

     

They took a wander through the underwater shark tunnel and watched as a kaleidoscope of sharks and fish swim over their heads.  The group also watched divers going in the tank to feed the array of colourful fish.

     

The aquarium visit continued, exploring inside the darkened coral cave to a central viewing area overlooking a stunning, naturally-themed coral reef display.

Activities Co-ordinator Joanne says, “Trips like these always really stimulate everyones interests, not only is educational but visually and sensory, it’s very therapeutic.”

“There were lots of laughs on the journey home, with Mary sharing some funny jokes. It was a great day all round.”
