exSTRAWdinary Scarecrows for Mawdesley Festival
Over the last few weeks, the ladies and gents living at Stocks Hall Mawdesley Home have been lovingly creating their very own scarecrows, to enter into the inaugural Mawdesley Scarecrow Festival.
The festival runs from the 21st -22nd July 2018 and is the first of its kind for Mawdesley, with over 35 entries throughout the delightful, picturesque village. Organisers, Mawdesley Parish Council are hoping that local businesses and the general public will embrace this fun community event and enter into the creative scarecrow world!
The Activities Team at Stocks Hall Mawdesley kept the theme of their scarecrows very close to the Home, creating a Nurse ‘Dolly’ affectionally seen showing care and support to ‘Betty’. The ladies were positioned outside Stocks Hall Mawdesley Home for visitors and passers-by to enjoy over the weekend.
The overall 1st, 2nd, & 3rd are judged by sponsors of the event and by the Parish Council. There is also a ‘People’s Prize’ which is voted for by visitors to the festival.
Manager, Faye Cooper says “The Scarecrow Festival has been absolutely brilliant and the ladies and gents living at the Home have had a sense of pride, creating their Individual Scarecrows. Mawdesley is a very special, friendly place to live and the Festival symbolises all that we love about living and working in this idyllic village. We are already planning the 2019 entry.”
