Wicker Unit provides nine nursing/specialist beds and is staffed by Nurses (RGN) and Carers. Wicker has a larger lounge and dining area, which will accommodate daily activities and entertainment. The dining room has a satellite kitchen for visitors and residents to help themselves to refreshments. The unit also has an assisted bathroom with wet room facilities and tracking hoist facility.
Beautifully decorated with a classic, contemporary feel, the Unit possesses bedrooms to accommodate bariatric wheelchairs and specialist equipment. The doors are double leafed in addition to our en-suites. There are ceiling track hoist facilities in each of the rooms on Wicker unit as well as a system to allow the track to run smoothly directly from bedroom into the en-suites.
The Unit is supervised by Nursing Staff supported by a team of Care Assistants, with extra staffing when required to assist with Bariatric residents. There is a Nurses station located by the lounge area with a window leading directly onto the lounge for ease of visibility. The room will provide a safe environment for medication, meetings, care planning and staff supervision/appraisals.
Our advanced intercom system will enable visitors to call directly to Wicker unit to allow for access. Wicker unit has its own entrance, which is accessed directly from the front car park.
There is a variety of activities for the people living with us on Wicker Unit, organised by our Activity Co-ordinator, and are person centred around the people living with us. There will also be holistic based activities, as well as one-to-one time with each resident, and we will provide smaller group activities in the lounge as well as films and music therapy. People living with us on Wicker Unit can also join in activities or watch entertainment taking place in our Willow Unit.
