Stocks Hall Mawdesley celebrates Shrove Tuesday!
A selection of tasty treats were on offer this Shrove Tuesday at Stocks Hall Mawdesley Home.
Second Chef, Ian prepared freshly made pancakes with an array of delicious toppings to choose from. Ladies and gentleman living at the Home made their Individual choices and for some, choosing combination of toppings from savoury to sweet or a mix of both.
From traditional lemon and sugar to strawberries and syrup, to the slightly more unusual – cottage cheese – all requests were catered for!
Shrove Tuesday isn’t just an arbitrarily named themed day though, it’s origin is rooted in the Christian tradition of Lent, the 40 days leading up to Easter during which people are encouraged to give up certain luxuries as penance.
Jordan McCullough, Activities Staff says “Every year, people living at the Home look forward to Shrove Tuesday with great excitement. It is a day that has been celebrated throughout childhood years and holds fond family memories of making pancakes with loved ones.”
